A traditional turkish sweet, adopted by th greek cusine.
Easy and tasty, you can serve it afte meals.
Here with an italian - inspired cheese filling!
Ingredients : 250 gr shredded phyllo dough (also called kadaif),
150 gr mascarpone,
100 gr ricotta,
50 ml fresh milk,
80 gr melted butter.
For the sirup : 150 gr sugar,
100 ml water,
juice of a half a lemon.
For the serving : ground pistachios,
vanilla ice cream.
Preparation : Mix the chees with the milk, so to have a creamy mixture. Divide the kadaif fibers and spread over the melted butter. In a little baking dish, line half of the kadaif dough. Spread over the cheese mixture and coner with the rest of the kadaif dough. Place in a preheated oven at 180°C for 30-40 minutes, till the surface have a nice golden color. In the meanwhile prepare th sirup. In a little saucepan put all the ingredients and let them boil for a few minutes , till the sugar dissolves completely. Let it cool down. When kunefe comes out of the oven, ladle the tepid syrup over. Serve hot. You can spread some ground pistacchios over, or accompanyig with vanilla ice cream, or better with the fragrand kaimak ice cream.
